Fender American Vintage '62 Deluxe 20-watt 1 x 12-inch Combo Amplifier

Where Tweed Grit Meets Black-panel Sparkle

Combining raw tweed textures with black-panel sparkle, the Fender American Vintage ’62 Deluxe leverages the legendary 6G3 circuit to deliver a distinctive woodiness with plenty of grind when you crank it. This tube-fueled combo amp houses a 6V6-fired power section, voiced by a 12AX7-loaded preamp, and bolstered by a GZ34-driven rectifier. Additionally, a custom-designed 12-inch Celestion speaker, developed specifically for this amplifier, certifies tight vintage-flavored tones at any volume. You also get a supremely lush-sounding tube-bias tremolo. The ’62 Deluxe is on point aesthetically as well, sporting a ’60s-style Nubtex cabinet covering, joined by an eye-catching wheat grille cloth and brown leather handle. Finally, this meticulously crafted guitar amp includes a vintage-style footswitch and a fitted brown cover. Whether you want to twang, jangle, sparkle, or roar, the American Vintage ’62 Deluxe will allow you to harness the elusive brown-panel sound all Fender aficionados aspire to.

The hidden gem of the early ’60s, finally unlocked

A hidden treasure from the early 1960s, the brown-panel 6G3 Deluxe bridges the gap between the raw sound of the tweed era and the sparkling clean tones of the later black-panel models. Prized for their best-of-both-worlds tonality, these amps offer a distinctive sound, delivering warm, woody cleans and gnarly overdrive when pushed. These tasty tone machines have garnered a devoted following, including such noteworthy players as Billy F. Gibbons and Joe Bonamassa, who use the amp in myriad ways, both onstage and in the studio. Packing the original 6G3 circuit, the ’62 Deluxe offers discerning players an accessible pathway to this fabled, yet eminently elusive, sound. Just like the original model, the ’62 Deluxe houses two 6V6 power tubes, three 12AX7 preamp tubes, and one GZ34 rectifier tube. Beyond that, a lush, tube-bias tremolo ensures that you get the full sonic picture.

A classic blueprint, thoughtfully evolved

While sonically analogous to a vintage brown-panel Deluxe, the Fender ’62 Deluxe offers a few welcome updates. For starters, the amp’s input channels are wired in phase, enabling you to leverage an A/B/Y box to switch between and combine the inputs, in essence giving you a 3-channel amplifier. Next, a custom-designed 12-inch Celestion speaker, developed specifically for this amplifier, overcomes the flubbiness inherent in vintage models, maintaining tight bass — even when the amp is driven into a cacophonic roar. Beyond that, the lush, tube-bias tremolo has been dialed down to a slow, swampy speed that blends seamlessly with your playing. We welcome these updates here at Sweetwater. They make the ’62 Deluxe a top-caliber choice for home recording and small-scale live performances alike.

A brown-panel beauty from head to toe

Boasting distinctive brown-panel styling, the ’62 Deluxe looks as amazing as it sounds. It all starts with a Fender ’60s brown Nubtex cabinet covering and period-correct front-panel controls, giving you a vintage-flavored aesthetic that’s guaranteed to impress. This striking look is further bolstered by a wheat grille cloth, a brown leather handle, and a vintage-style brown single-button footswitch. Lastly, you get a fitted brown amp cover to keep your amp looking like a well-cared-for collectible.
